God damn was this atmospheric! I absolutely adored the way you wrote this! Granted, I haven't read or watched the story of Randolp Carter but knowing what HP Lovecraft was famous for, I braced myself quite a lot.

I have to say, I adore the investigation elements and the art that was so complementary to it. I love the narration because it felt all so realistic yet had that element of dark fantasy, the VAs did such an amazing job trying to convey the madness while trying to sound sane, and their voices fit well with the time period I assume this all was set in.

I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in the voice at the monster at the end, whoever voiced it did a good job at frightening me when I first heard it but I think having a background of constant whispering would have given a bigger impact? Despite that, I still enjoyed it and found myself delighted every time I discovered a new clue and the recordings were crisp and well done!

Again, well done for a game jam! I really am glad I took the time to play it!

This was a such an interesting VN adaptation of Lovecraft!

I’m always interested in VN literary adaptations, and you did such a good job by enriching the original story with investigative gameplay. It works really well with Lovecraft in general, but you really chose the perfect story for this —Randolph Carter is already so iconic because of its court trial framing, so adding investigation by a third-party on top is such a perfect fit.

I liked that most of the original text was still included through cassette tapes, almost like a full audiobook, and the VAs for Warren/Carter did such a good job with it, it was really impressive. The blending of both the investigation and the original story made for a really immersive experience, I could see this kind of formula reused for other Lovecraft/literary stories!

There were maybe a few points of blending between the original story & what you added that made me pause —like the style discrepancies between both, the cassette tapes anachronism, the implausible tapes found in the swamp all the way to the tomb, and the doubling down on Lovecraft’s orientalism with regard to the “book from India” (which was a single brief mention in the original). But obviously none of these have easy answers from the get-go, it wouldn’t be so easy to address them all.

Thank you for making this, I really enjoyed it!

Very atmospheric, dark and reminds me of Lovecraftian Horror. Had a lot of fun, keep up the good work!

I really enjoyed this game! The music and sound effects really added to the atmosphere and did a fantastic job at creating immersion. The swamp was especially well done.
I liked the art style as well.
In general, I really liked the writing. The ending was executed very well, but I'm not entirely sure I love how Randolph and Warren were written out? I originally thought their tapes were recorded as a personal journal, but then I realized some tapes were conversations or interogations. The very last tape was written out really well, but the interogation tapes felt like they needed a different direction. I've worked around booking halls and other places where real life people in crisis might talk to themselves, and even someone who isn't quite in their right mind doesn't talk like a narrator. They speak more like they believe in what they see, versus just describing what they see. The use of descriptive language in each of the tapes was excellent though. I'd definitely recommend that people play this game and check it out!

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. The dialogue of Randolph Carter and Harley Warren in the tapes are actually lines from the short story of H.P Lovecraft. I thought it would be fun to have these exact lines turned into tapes. We'll definitely look into how interrogation tapes should be like. Really appreciate it

A must-play game this Spooktober! If you're into Lovecraftian games, people should check it out.

I love how the developers incorporated different elements to the game especially the tape player.

Kudos to the voice actors too! That shaky voice detail of Randolph Carter tho, and yes I have a crush on Harley Warren! Man I want to say a lot of things here about him but I don't want to spoil it to anyone!!!

We appreciate your support! Everyone worked very hard to put together this project. This has been my second jam project so far and even I was thrown off at how in synch everyone was during the development

Visual novel that started out with a great art, voice overs, and music. You're definitely up for a good expectation of the game! Of course, as games that are made for a month long jam, it's inevitable to see that it needs more development in a few areas. Overall, love the art and the story of a Lovecraft adaptation.

I appreciate your feedback and absolutely agree that there were some kinks. Unfortunately we were running down the wire with this submission, so we had to cut our losses and upload what we had.

Could you please list some areas that need to improve? Our programmer expressed interest in updating the submission once he had rested up.

We may even release this on Steam as a victory lap, so we'd like to have the best build we could get

One of the hidden gems in this jam! A very polished game inspired by the stories of HP Lovecraft. It's like Carmen Sandiego meets murder mystery/hidden object game. The casette tape recorder is a very neat idea added with the point and click mechanics. Oh! And that ending...I feel bad for the characters especially to Mr. Warren. Foooool!!!!! T_T

EDIT: The voice overs are superb too. I just found the recordings of  some tapes were too long for me. But all in all its a very well thought and a polished game!

In regards to the audio of the tapes, we tried to leave them untouched for the sake of the reference. And as the scriptwriter, this hurt my brain.

The dialogue was very clunky at times, some sentences were too long, and some of the wordplay was much to be desired.

Our VAs appreciate your support. They worked really hard to pull off a convincing performance, especially in regards to those audio lines
